Vacations
vacation places

Vacations are wonderful. The change of scene and occupation breaks whatever pattern of dullness or overwork into which we have fallen. The chance to recreate is good for body and soul. Touring sights feeds the mind.

Such things fill the senses and make memories. But they are not what fills the human heart or gives meaning to our existence on this globe. That place is claimed by relationships.

The Kingdom of God has been called "the kingdom of right relationships." I like that. I can understand that. I DO want that, no doubt about it. To relate well to strangers, acquaintances, colleagues, friends, and significant others would be a dream come true. Can you even imagine it? Moving confidently through every realm of life; working without resentment or gossip; being with friends without hurt feelings; exposing oneself without fear; knowing others deeply without judgment; being accepted and affirmed just for being yourself; and being happy with you, without putting on pretend selves.

Once upon a time, a person lived that way; his name was Jesus. And he invites you to live that freely, too. He restores you to right relationship with your creator, and His Spirit within you takes you on a journey of discovery of yourself and of harmonious relationships with all others, with all else.

Enjoy your vacation this summer or fall. And take joy in your relationship with the Lord. The Lord has brought the Kingdom of Heaven to earth, the kingdom of right relationships.
